History[]

The San Diego Surf were created in the 2009-2010 season as an ABA expansion franchise. In their three years as an ABA franchise they have managed to win 1 division title and a spot in the playoffs twice.

Season-by-Season Record[]

2009-2010[]

In their first season in the ABA, the Surf finished third in the Southern California Division with a 5-8 record, and missed the playoffs.

2010-2011[]

In their second season in the ABA, the Surf improved to a 7-6 record in the Southern California Division, but finished fourth in the division (ironically, their rivals, the Sol would win the division). They missed the playoffs.

2011-2012[]

In their third season as an ABA team, the Surf finished with an 8-7 season, third in the Southern California Division (right behind the Sol, who finished with an 18-2 record).

2012-2013[]

In their fourth, and latest, season in the ABA, the Surf finished with an impressive 12-3 record, but finished  second - this time to the Arizona Scorpions, who finished 19-4 that season.

The Surf managed to earn a bye to the Great Eight tournament, or the quarterfinals of the ABA playoffs, where they were defeated by the San Francisco Rumble.
